Keeping our village alive!

About Mauprévoir Environnement

Mauprévoir Environnement is an association registered in France and governed by the law of 1 July 1901 and the Decree of 16 August 1901 - Association n° W862002308

The association was formed by several long-time residents who care passionately about the beauty and tranquillity of the countryside around Mauprévoir. This group attended a presentation by a wind turbine company at the Mauprévoir Mairie and was shocked to realise that – far from being discreet - the huge development being put forward by the council posed a very real threat to the local environment and the future of the village.

When this first project was quickly followed by a second one, sponsored by a different company, the residents concerned decided to form Mauprévoir Environnement. The association seeks to spread awareness and gather support in the village and its neighbouring communes to protect the existing local agriculture, wildlife and tourism from the negative effects of the proposed windfarms on Mauprévoir’s future as a living village.

The association is now growing to include more and more local families and is supported, among others, by M. Michel GUYOT and Mme Noémi BRUNET, who recently purchased the beautiful nearby Abbaye de la Réau - a classified 'Monument Historique' -  and reopened it to the public in April 2017 with a view to financing its eventual complete restoration.
